Arthur A. Keene, of Portland,
Ore., arrived in Condon the latter
part of last week to assume the
management of the Optical and
Jewelery departments of Herman
W. Pauling. M r. Keene is a grad
uate of two eastern Optical col
leges and holds a diploma from
an Horological school and adds
to his qualifications several years
of actual experience. He has
been employed in the offices of
some of the leading opticians 01
the state.
F. S. Smith, who resided on the
Comini ranch near Condon for the
past four years, passed through
The Dalles Saturday enroute with
his family, household goods, and
stock, to his new home near Hills
bora, Ore., Mr. Smith recently
purchased a farm of 160 acres
near that city and will go in for
dairying. He says that he is not
leaving Condon because he does
not like the country but because
he thinks that the change will
benefit him financially. He
brought his family, stock and
goods with him overland from
Condon to this city and shipped
from here to Hillsboro. The
