Announcement of the marriage
of Miss Clara Irvin and Dr. A. A.
Atkinson reached Condon
last week. Miss Irvin taught in
the high school last year and the
year previous was a member of
the teaching staff of the Fossil
high school and has a large num
ber of friends in both towns.
Dr. Atkinson has visited here a
number of times. The wedding
was the culmination of a pretty
romance which had its inception
on the Pacific university campus
at Forest Grove. The contract
ing parties are both graduates of
that institution. Condon friends
of Dr. and Mrs. Atkinson ex
tend congratulations and best
wishes.

CROWING TOWNS HAVE
. PROBLEMS TO SOLVE
TheKood River News-Letter,
the wide-awake and live paper
of the new Apple county, paid
The Globe a compliment in its
issue of last week by making a
big front page "story" on the
need of more houses for rent in
Hood River which was practically
taken verbatim from an article
printed in The Globe's issue of
September 4th. The words Hood
River and Apple City were subs
tituted adroitly for Condon and
Wheat City.
Growing towns have many
crying needs that are similar; the
problems that confront progress
ive municipalities are often iden
tical, and if a nespaper can be of
assistance to another, well and
good. Ethics of the profession
make, however, certain demands
on a publisher who uses another s
articles. But the moral of it all
is this Now is the time to build.

LONE ROCK TO HAVE
NEW WATER SYSTEM
Two Reservoir To B Built
Kin Pure Water Will Fine
Ite Way to Every Home.
Lone Rock is to have a new
water system and the water that
will supply the needs of the
thrifty town will be the best in
the ccunty. At an election held
Monday the citizens of Lone Rock
voted unanimously in favbr of a
$3,000 bond issue for the install
ation of the system.
The source of supply is located
on the Crenshaw place, south of
Lone Rock and consists of two
fine springs from which the watei
will be piped to a hill and stored
up into two reservoirs; one of
which will be used to supply the
needs of the city and the other is
to be held as a reserve in case of
emergency. From this point
which js less than a quarter of a
mile away from the town, the
water will find its way to the
city and will be piped to every
home in the city at a very reason
able rate. v
