Would not a modern opera
house prove a good investment
in Condon? It would assist
materially in securing a better
grade of attractions and a larger
number of them. Local capital
should investigate the proposition
and see whether it is f easible.
In the state of Washington,
the primary law has given birth
to a rather large primary ballot,
so great is the number of can
didates. In size it resembles a
Navajo blanket The Spokesman-Review
aptly remarks:
"Since the secretary of state has
distributed sample primary bal
lots the frugal housekeeper can
now lay in her winter's supply
of blankets easily."
Senator Levy Ankeny has like
Senator Fulton been placed by
Collier's Weekly on the list of
"Senate Undesirables". Ankeny
is now candidate for re-election
before the primaries. Will he
get the same wrap as Fulton got
at the Oregon primaries? It is
not likely that Heney will take
part in the Washington camp
aign. It is rumored that another ho
tel may be erected here. When
it will be running, the danger
of one going hungry will be
eliminated, provided he has the
price of a meal ticket We al
ready have two hotels here.
Mr.Chaffin is not the only
presidential candidate who will
probably have to take water be
fore the campaign is ended.

"Hoth of 'em, your honor."
"Both of them? Which Is your sur

"And Jeffrey la your given name?"
"Yes, your honor."

the witness ruefully. "It Isn't my fault."
"What do you mean, air?" demanded
the Judge, who was fast losing his

"I mean, your honor, that Alias la
