session at Gladstone Park, near
Oregon City.

T. D. Sweeten has been ap
pointed city marshal at Arling
ton to succeed Jerry Ray. For
a Deriod of nine years prior to
his coming- to Condon, Mr.
Sweeten was marshal at the
town on the banks of the Col
umbia. Mr. Sweeten is a good
officer.

Crops in the Mayville district
are looking well and if no unfav
orable conditions arise, the yield
in this section will be pretty well
up to, the average.

Back from Canada.
Mr. and Mrs. J. A. Richmond
and daughter, Miss Mabel, and
Mr. and Mrs. J. B. Whyte have
returned from en extended trip
to Mr. Richmond' 4, old home in
Canada, The members of the
party report a very pleasant trip
but all are glad to get back to
the Gilliam county wheat fields.
They visited the farge eastern
cities but Mr. Richmond was well
pleased with Denver and says
that the city park .there is the
finest he has ever seen. Mr.
Richmond saw quite a change in
the old places which he had not
seen for twenty-four years, u n
fnrtunatelv Mr. . Richmond was
the victim of a plight indisposi
tion while on the trip and was
prevented from going sightsee
ing as much as he wished, since
his -return home he is feeling
much better.

FredParrish, the young son
of Mr. and Mrs. George Parrish,
who sustained a severe scalp
wound last week as the result of
a blow received from a windlass
while at the slaughter house, is
getting along well The
wound was of such a nature

as to necessitate the taking of
several stitches by Dr.Gavey.the
attending physician.
Frank Monahan of the Murtha
& Monahan sheep ranch on Rock
Creek, was in town this week
buying household goods to re
place those destroyed by fire
last week. They are at present
living in the small house a short
distance from the scene of the
recent fire, but expect to build
in a short time.
Editor W. R. Burner, of the
Spray Courier, is suffering from
a severe attack of rheumatism
and han found it necessary to
tnat Mr. Burner is in a crit-
ical condition and that he is
unable to walk without assist
ance.

in the District fair to be held in
