Mr. and Mrs. Wayne Grider
returned Thursday evening from
a trip down in the valley, where
they have been visiting relatives.
Wayne was tickled to death to
get back on dry ground.
W. H. Snell came up from Ar
lington yesterday afternoon.
James Stephens of Rock Creek
came to Condon on yesterday

that Carroll McCarty who has
lately been very sick, is improv
ing steadily.
R. H. Robinson was a business
visitor in Portland a few days
this week.
Mrs. J. J. Gross of Walla
Walla arrived in Condon Thurs
day evening to visit for a week
with relatives and friends. She
is a daughter of Mrs. N. C
Cochran.
H. B. Hudson, Field Secretary
for Oregon of the International
Reform Bureau, will speak at
the Congregational church Wed
nesday evening at eight o'clock.
His subject wiil be "The Aris
tocracy of HelL"
S. C. Dodson, the merchant, is
offering some rare bargains dur
ing the remaing weeks of this
month on all of his fine stock of
goods. Prices are given in his
large ad in this issue.
Gus Morris called at the Globe
office the first of the week and
renewed his subscription. He
will stay in Condon during the
winter.
The mumps are going the
rounds in Condon. It was re
ported that on last Friday out of
53 pupils registered in Miss
Smith's room, only fifteen were
present, the rest had the mumps.
Wilbur K. France of Rock
Creek was in the city on Thurs
day for the purpose of buying a
a gasoline engine and some farm
machinery. He found what
pleased him best at Hunt's, The
Hardware Man.
Mrs. L. E. Searcy is teaching
the grade formerly taught by
Miss Simmons, who has lately
resigned.
J. L. Beck who lives in the
Gooseberry country was a busi
ness visitor in Condon Wednes
day. While here he subscribed
for the Globe.
Mrs. A. Schaffer was a caller
at thi3 office this week and re
newed her subscription. She re
ports the roads down the canyon
as being frightful.
L. A. Miller of Lone Rock was
a Condon visitor this week.
While here he ordered the Globe
sent to his address.

Mr. and Mrs. D. B. Thomas
visited with friends In Arlington

Delmar Smith, who is working
for the Interior Warehouse Co.,
was a visitor in Arlington-over
Sunday.
Mrs. W. S. Farr received a
message this week calling her to
the bedside of her mother, Mrs.
McKinney of Blalock, who is
seriously ill with pneumonia.
Miss Lelia Thomas who has
been visiting with her parents,
Mr. and Mrs. D. B. Thomas, re
turned this week to The Dalles
where she is attending school.
D. L. Harris attended to busi
ness matters in The Dalles Wed
nesday. The local train has made a rep
utation for itself during the
past week or ten days, having
arrived every evening on time
with only one exception, which
was the fault of the main line
trains.
A. J. Cook, stock inspector for
Morrow county, has recently
completed his fall inspection of
sheep and finds them in better
condition than for years, especial
ly as far as disease is concerned.
He reports that sheep have done
well during the fall, and they
are now in splendid condition in
the middle of winter, with pract
ically no feeding necessary, the
flocks keeping up well on the
range.

sick list, but is up and about

ford warehouse this week.

Frank Lewis was in town
Tuesday evening.
While the stage was on the
way from Olex to Mikkalo last
Monday, one of the horses be
came sick, so the only way the
passengers had to catch the
train was to walk to Mikkalo,
which was about three miles
and they walked. Just what
