The osteopaths. of Oregon will
ask for "legal Recognition''. at the
hands of the Oregon legislature this
winter. At the present time this
profession has no legal standing
and, in the eyes of the law. does not
rank as high as the barbers, who
are recognized and protected by a
special law. Osteopathy is a com
paratively new method for the
treatment of disease and there. Are
hundreds if not thousands of the
residents of Oregon who can testify
to the efficacy -of that treatment
for the alleviation of suffering. This
school of treatment m tintains reg
ular schools from which students
are graduated '. after a" thorough"
course in anatomy and osteopathy
and there is no doubt but that this
clas of practitioners are doingmuch
good and reliable work. They are
certainly entitled to the same de
gree of recognition as are other
schools of healing and the legisla
ture of Oregon Bhould grant them
this measure of justice.
