that by giving patronage to big cities

Herman Pauling went finding in. the
picturesque stream called Jtouk Creek,
in the bailiwick of Lone Rock, Inst Hun
day, and had the weather been warmer,
the fish more plentiful and larger, and
the time not limited he would no don lit
have made a good catch. At it wat he
only angled 80 minutes and in that time
caught 142 trout. A great many of the
" speckled beauties " would weigh four
anil a few would weigh lest than two
pounds. Cash Simpson, who it some
what of an onlielieving cusp, .was dispos
ed to question Hermann's ability to take
one and three-quarter trout off the hook
and adjust hit bait every minute, but
when it wat explained to him that the
trout, when hooked, went np the line
hand over hand and then slid down the
pole into the basket, he quit kicking and
admitted that he did not know much
about fishing anyway. Herman will try
it again during the season and hope to
do better next time. He may try to
break the record if be strike a streak ot
luck. ,

sis. Mrs. liradfhaw had been ill for the
past two years and her death waa not

survive her and to them will go forth the

61,008 coyote scalps have been presented
to the various county courts of the state
in accordance with the Ixninty law by

pav the certiorates, and their value will
depend on an appropriation to be made

2143. Crook 2089; while-Morrow, Wasco,
Wheeler, Baker, Klamath, Grant and
(iiiliam show upwards of 1000 each.
Polk shows the lowest number recorded,
8, while Multnomah furnishes l-. Union
county records attest the f.ict that 803 of
the "varmints " were exterminated
within the county's borders in the time
