The gun has a record of 420 shots
a minute, and requires no work ex
cept the pressure of an electric but
ton to maintain the terrific fire, the
automatic system having been ap
plied to it The gun is a self-feed
er, and grinds out shots with a ra
pidity tan will make it a most
dangerous piece for landing parties.
As compared to the Gatling,
which has been the naval machine
gun lor years, u is just about as
superior as the modern rifle
gun is to the old smooth bore,
The Gatling has a weight of 350 lbs,
while the new gun weighs only 35
pounds, and can be taken by a
man on his shoulder and easily
carried from point to point. -
Utah starts out with a constitu
tion differing in several important
points from those of other states.
For instance, it provides that jur
ies shall consist of eight men in
stead of twelve, and that in civil
cases three-fourths of the number
may render a verdict. Another
provision iB to the effect that the
state shall never eo into debt ex
ceeding $206,000, except in case of
insurrection, and guarantees to ev
ery citizen the right to obtain em
ployment whenever possible, and
makes any interference with this
law a crime. Women are granted
equal suffrage in the new state.
Monday's Telegram says: J. R.
Cox, of Pendleton, was arraigned
before Judge Bellinger, yesterday,
on a charge of cutting timber on
government land. He was defend
ed by Mr. M. A. Butler, of Pendle
ton, and, it being shown that he
. had tried to enter the land as a
homestead, and the cutting of tim
ber was done in good faith in the
line of improving the claim, he was
discharged.

thousand and fifty dollars ($3,060.00)
and interest in accordance with the
terms of four certain promissory notes
in the original chattel mortgage spe
cifically described upon the following
described personal property, towit:
One (.train Separator complete, man
ufactured by the Advance Thresher
Company, Jo. 6012, with straw stack
er, belts and all fixtures and append
ages with or belonging to the same,
also one Truck Wagon under the
same, also one sixteen-horse power
Straw Burner Steam Traction Engine,
manufactured by the Advance Thresh
er Company No. 2426 complete, with
hose and all fixtures and appendages
with or belonging to the same, also
one Main Drive Belt and all belts
used in and about said machine, or
that may hereafter be added to the
same, also one Jackson Self Feeder
with 24-foot elevator, also two 4-foot
forks.
Now therefore, I, as the duly ap
pointed agent of said mortgagee for
such purposes, have taken possession
of all the property in said mortgage
described and mortgaged,- the condi
tions of said mortgage having been
broken, and have taken possession in
accordance with the terms of said
mortgage,, and in pursuance of the
terms of foreclosure in said mortgage

warehouse , wherein said property is
