cises of the Ohio Wesleyan University,

sion of University Teaching has decided

The University of Pennsylvania has
this year 1,764 students, which makes it

which has been promoted by tbe govern-

The National Educational Association
recently in session at Saratoga, resolved
to hold no meeting in mis, out instead
to take part in tbe World's Educational
Congress to be held in Chicago during

est institution of collegiate rank in the
Northwest territory and of antedating
all similar institutions in that region by
nearly a quarter of a century. One of

both numerically and financially.
There are many discouraging features
in the educational situation in this coun
try, but there are also many signs of
progress. Education is weakest in the
secondary schools and strongest in the
universities and in tbe primary schools.
That which many of our intermediate
schools the public schools especially
lack in freshness of spirit, vitality of in
terest and variety of method the kinder
gartens and colleges and universities are
developing in a re mars a bid degree.
The spread of tbe kindergarten and the
enthusiasm with which the spiritual idea
of education behnd it Is being re
