BULLY CAUGHT AT LAST Tualatin, Ore., Romeo H Stephens, 82, alias Harold E, Martin, under arrest here for stealing $70.90 from the Oregon Electric whila acting as station agent at Tualatin, on the Salem line, today repeated and ampli fied his confession to Portland officers, yesterday declaring that he had swindled many rail road companies, all the way from New York to San Francisco, out of various Sums. He swore that he bilked the Gould road in New Yorli out of $310 and left his "I. O. U.," directed to George Gould, for the amount, pinned to a comment that the road's system was rotten Stephens says he is the son of Harrison Stephens, of Montreal, Canada, and that his father is wealthy. Speculation's, accord ing to his statement, will run in to thousands of dollars, the larg est amount at any one time be ing in lihe neighborhood of $400. He says he attended McGill Collepe, at Montreal, and shows every evidence of superior edu cation, lie is an expert agent aid telegraph operator. Three Officials Question the Man E.B. BELL IS COMING FOR DANGERQUS CROSSING The Owl recently made ment ion of the dangerous crossing of the Oregon Electric Ry. and Main Street' suggesting the need of a bell at that point- we now informed that action of in terested parties, along this lino, has resulted in the authority to install an Electric alarm bell at that point, being granted and the near future will see it in place. It is to be hoped that people will not becoriie indiffer ent to its warning; and that fu ture accidents will be avoided at this point.
