Dear Editor: When I left Beav erton the last words my neighbor Mr. Davis said to me were; I wish you would gather some sunshine and send up to we peopl e here at Beaverton so my articles written for The Owl, will always be headed Sunshine. We left Port land Dee. 2 at 8-45 under a dark foggy apd cloudy day, until night through occasional showers passing those Cities you are so well acquainted with Salem, Alb any, Eugene, Cottage Grove and on reaching Grants Passat 10-30 that night when the train stopped we got off and caught a glimpse of a few scattering stares, peep ing " through the swiftly flying clouds, but not' raining. The City was all aglow with electric lights that were modern in eyery detail as we wended our way to the Hotel Josephine we were inspir ed with the cleanliness and mod ern buildings of the City. Morn ing broke with a flame in the east that promised a gleem of the sun the air was crisp and fres as it naturally would be at an altitude of 963 ft. above Sea level as the sun climbed slowly above mountain peaks apparently shy as a Maiden in her teens I grab bed an armful of sunshine and gave it a throw toward Beaverton but alas as jt tipped the moun tain peaks it was caught in a dark bank of clouds and was hid from view so, when the train arrived at 8 we were again in the fog .Grants Pass is a Beau tiful City setting like a jewel in the heart pf of a rnt. on a level plain from three to four miles in diameter with sharp mt. peaks raising st an altitude of a thous and to 1500 ft. and in my opinion for a small City it has no equal on the Pacific slope in my next I will pick up the thread from Grants Pass. Sincerely yours. Sunshine, TREE FALLS ON CABIN i. ; Close Call For Conley 1 of Beaverton Wheeler Or.LM.
