This measure proposes to limit the rate of interest in Oregon to 5 per cent. You
can, by law, fix the rate of interest in Oregon, but you cannot, by law, force the loaning
of money in this state, when a much higher rate can be secured elsewhere. The pas
sage of this measure would force the withdrawal of the millions of foreign capital which
is today loaned on factories, business and real estate in the state and send your local
money owners outside of the state to better investments.
Passage of this measure would mean foreclosure of thousands of mortgages; would
result in financial paralysis, and would mean widespread unemployment.
You, no doubt, understand the visiousness of this measure, but have you talked
to your neighbprs and friends about it? Wis urge you to do everything you oan to de
feat this measure. Oregon's reputation as a sound state for investments requires that
this measure.be overwhelmingly defeated. ,

Carl John Oberg was born in Sund-
swall, Sweden, May 11, 1873. He
left Sweden for America in April
1892. For eight years he resided in
Ironwood, Mich. In 1899 he came to
Idaho where he was married in 1902

of Huber, near the Livermore school
house.
About 4 years ago while attending
services in Portland 'he became an
earnest seeker fof salvation through
the Lord. Jesus Christ. Two years
ago Mr. Oberg had the influenza
from which he never fully recovered
and developed lung trouble. On ac
count of this he went to Phoenix.
Arizona, last February and there
passed away at the hospital last
Friday, Oct. 15th, aged 47 years
and b months.
Besides friends and neighbors he
leaves to mourn tneir loss a wile,
five children and one sister, Mrs,
Charles Jjlloom, of Mullen, Idaho.
I he tuneral services were con
ducted at he Beaverton Methodist
church Saturday by the Reverend
Mr. Anderson, of fortland.
Interment was in the Crescent
Grove cemetery, in charge of Mr.
Pegg.
