The Scholls Telephone Co. on Monday dosed a lease with Riizolo Rossi, who recently ac quired the Fisher Building prop erty, for a part of the Old Huber saloon building which occupies the west end of the ground ad joining the Times office and the first of the month will move the office and switchboard of their telephone plant to the new loca tion when it will be in direct charge of Mrs. E. J. Boring. The building will be thorough ly remodeled and equipped for the new service and Manager Raynard expects to be able to improve his, already excellent service under the new arrange ment. Wm. Stipe - - - 50 Surprised the McKells. A very pleasant surprise was tendered Mr. and Mrs. W, C. McKell Sunday evening of last week on the occasion of their fourteenth wedding anniversary. Mr. and Mrs. J. E. Davis, Mr. and Mrs. F. G. Donaldson, Mr. and Mrs. W. H. Boyd and Mr. and Mrs. W. J. Leonard made a trip to Beaverton, acquired a generous supply of" ice cream and cake and quietly motored out to the McKell home. Mr. McKell was equal to the occasion, went to the garden and secured several cantaloupes which he had been saving lor just such an occasion and when the ice had cooled them to just the right temperature, Mrs. McKell served, the ice cream they had brought in this delicious 'manner. The eveninar was all too short and was enjoyed to the utmost by host and hostess and guests. Mrs. Charles Swanson, who was taken to Emmanuel hospital in Portland recently, contracted pneumonia and died as a result of this attack on Thursday of last week.' She leaves a sorrow ing husband and two small chil dren, one a girl of seven years and the other a baby scarcely ft month old. Funeral services were held in Portland. A. M.
