Thursday, Nov. 18, 1915 The Hillsboro Independent in its last issue, under the head ing "Why Not Co-operate?" comments at considerable length ' on the road improvement prob- i lem in this county, and ends up Iwith the following proposition ! to the business men of Beaver-: iton: "When you want to boost ; any proposition that will build i i t i Tir -: i up ana develop wasningion county, let us know. We will always lend a hand. We are for Washington county first, last and all the time. Ve only ask for the western half of the coun ty its fair share of the appropri ations made for roads or other public work." That's the right I kind of spirit in which to deal with this complex problem. That's what The Times advo cated in the first place, which is the only way anything tangible errs again in regard to the im-;may accomplished for better provement of Washington county i r0ads all getting together and roads by state aid. Beaverton, Oregon I Washington county. j I EAT ALL I WANT ! NOV AND FEEL FINE be understood that if Washing ton county ever has good by roads it must prepare to build them. The state is not going to meet that expense. Certainly: there is no taxpayer in the county , wko would dispute that the im-' provement of the designated, highway would not benefit all the people of the county. Simply because such a road might help Portland in a way, by providing: a better means of travel to our ; citizens, is no argumeut that our taxpayers would not also be benefitted. Argument that is i not based on facts will fall of its own weight. Why use the name j of Portland to prejudice our people against their own best interests?
