Thursday, Sept. 9, 1915 The constant drive for thrift is having effect noto. only among the older people, but is spread ing to school: children, as seen by the report of sixty-one sav ior banks formed in as many Chicago public schools last year.. The report shows- that 136S8 children saved $27,115.94, and of this amount $11,200.90 has been transferred to regular banks.. Six pupils of the seventh and eighth grades ' conducted the bank3. Any sum from five cents up may be deposited, and as soon as a pupil's account amounts to $5 it is transferred to a reg-j alar bask and an account with the pupil is opened. It is reas onable to, suppose that rural schools will adopt the teaching of thrift as a- subsidiary course.. The town and rural district schools have the same opportu nity to learn economy and thrift Work will be commenced soon on th Beaverton high schooL FOR SALE REAL ESTATE NO. 30 5 acre tract all in cultivation, good 5-roon house,, good barn, ks. annle trees, ato berries, good drainage, 1-2 mile from Beaverton postoffice, good well,, fumitfure, teels and W cords of Wood all for $4500.
