Jack Dow and a friend working on county road construction near Cayuse spent Tuesday night in Athena, re turning to work Wednesday morning. Mr. and Mrs. O. O. Bloom assisted at the concert presented by the Pendleton Women's club at the Methodist church in Pendleton, Sunday , afternoon. Miss Freda Herndon of Milton vis ited Athena friends Sunday. Miss Herndon is a member of the senior class at Whitman college in Walla Walla. Workmen cleaned the gutters and lawns of the Baptist church and par sonage this week, which is a conclu sive indication of the approach of spring. Mr. and Mrs. H. J. Fred Kershaw attended the funeral of his cousin, the late Edward Wheel an, at Walla Walla, Monday. Mr. Wheelan died at Spokane Thursday of last week. He is survived by a sister, a resident of Walla Walla. Mrs. Ralph Richmond recently was operated on at the General hospital in Walla Walla, and is convalescing sat isfactorily. Mrs. Richmond was here from Bonners Ferry, Idaho, visiting relatives, when she was taken ill. Members of the B. BAPTIST CHURCH Good crowds are -greeting Capt. G. L. Hall since his arrival in our city. Last Sunday was even larger than the Sunday previous. Mr. Hall will continue his sermon of last Sunday morning. "Being a Christian what then is involved?" Special music will be in attendance at both services. The Sunday school was the largest also since Mr. Hall has been here. In the morning he spoke at Adams than drove to Athena afterwards. UNION RELIGIOUS SERVICES The Meade Union Evangelists, well known in the Northwest, will be in Athena, March 3d, to open in the Baptist church covering a period of two weeks. These meetings are sponsored by the Baptist and Chris tian churches of Athena, and it is hoped that all Christian people, and all who appreciate the need of a re ligious revival in the community will unite in hearty cooperation. The character of these evangelists, and their calibre are well established.
