ner, November 29, a son. The new ar
rival tops the scales at 10 pounds and
has been named James Allen Beckner.

berg after a visit of several weeks
at the home of their daughter Mrs.

Ray Dudley who has been operating
a caterpillar in the Dayton country
preparatory for next year's bean
crop, has returned to Athena for the
winter months.
Mr. and Mrs. Jay B. Gross
of Washtucna, were visitors at the
Dudley Rogers home over Thanks
giving. Mr. and Mrs. Gross are the
parents of Mrs. Rogers.
Shultz and Carney who have ship
per four car loads of mules to Grand
Island, Nebraska, are still in the mar
ket for stock and plan to ship another
car load in the near future.
Miss Dorothy Brodie was a week
end guest at the home of Mrs. Beulah
Smith at Island City. The young
ladies made the trip by motor and re
turned to Athena Sunday evening.
A piano recital will be held at the
school house here, Monday evening at
eight o'clock, under the supervision of
Mrs. Lillian Fredericks of vVeston.

A joint celebration of Thanksgiving
and the ninth birthday of Billy Johns
occurred at the Flint Johns home
Thursday. Mr. and Mrs. Lee White
head and two sons of Walla Walla
and Mrs. M. M. Johns were guests.

O. D. 0. club was held on Friday

In the evening, they enjoyed the tab
ernacle meeting at Pendleton, con
ducted by Rev. Ross. They report
that four persons accepted Christ, and
that the meetings are interesting.

F. & A. M. who attended the meeting
of the Master Warden organization at
Weston Friday evening were, Samuel
Fambrun, Arthur Coppock, Charles
Smith, Louis Keen and Clarence
Tubbs. Koopen of Pendleton was
elected president, Davis of Freewater,
vice-president; Gilbert, of Pilot Rock,
secretary. Helix lodge will be host
to the organization in January.
