Editorial
A community can be Judged by its
school. The attitude of the people
can be determined by the condition
and standing of its school. The fu
ture of a community is left in the
hands of the pupils who are fitted for
life by the school. The boy3 and girls
of today are the rulers of the future.
If the school does not provide for a
good education and fit the , scholar
for his future life the community is
eventually the loser.. When a school
does not come up, to standard, there
are people who can afford to send
their children away and workers in
the mills and shops who are not tied
down . and can move away. When
these people leave, the community "is
the loser for the stores lose trade, the
employer his worker, and the school
its pupil. ' The first thought of a
family with children is of school for
they realize the advantage of a good
education. For this reason no family
with children in school will move in
a town where the schools are in
adequate. In every business the pas
sing years bring changes. It is the
same in , school life. What was
modern twenty years ago is" old now.
A school to be up to date must change
its system in order to cope with the
changing conditions and complex
social order. The school of twenty
years ago fitted its pupils for the
world of that time but this is not
adequate for the changed conditions
of today. It is very important that
the children of any community be fit
ted for the present, for they are the
rulers and leaders of the future. It
is a handicap to the child to be de
prived of a fitting education. He is
not prepared for a college life nor to
start out in the community . as a
citizen. So we see that the success
of a community can be directly trac
ed to the schools.
