Famous Golf Players Play at Walla Walla Walla Walla. Arrangements have been completed here for an 18-hole exhibition match on Tuesday, August 21, at 2 o'clock P. M. with Archie Compston and Audrey Boomer, famous British golfing stars. The exhibition holes are to be played on the course of the Walla Walla Country Club, which is sponsoring the appearance of the two stars. Compston, for several years a moderately well-known links artist, leaped into international fame almost over night when he handed Walter Hagen the worst drubbing ever given any professional , of that caliber in match playr They ended what was to have been a 72-hole match, 18 up and 17 to go, in Compston's favor. Boomer is recognized as one of the leading distance drivers in inter national golf today and as such is expected to be the center of attention for those who are always seeking longer flights for their drivers. We will leave Wednesday morning, August 22, to be gone a week. Twenty boys have already been list ed for the trip, and there are a few more who may also go. Each boy can obtain from the officials the neces sary' information as to clothing and equipment, needed for the trip. As this is to be a mounted hike, a majority of the boys will ride their horses. The few that are not going to ride will go up with the supply truck that will leave at the same time. . As the boys will be in camp over Sunday, we would like to have as many as possible of the parents, and others interested, bring their picnic lunches, and spend the day in camp. At 2:30 in the afternoon, there will be a short religious service, followed by a program. Now that harvest is about over, and times are not quite so pressing for scouts and officials, we can start on our fall and winter program. As this is the first issue containing scout news, since the food sale for the benefit of the scout fund, we wish to extend a belated acknowledgement, and thank all those whose efforts made it a success.
