Press Paragraphs Mrs. Clarence Toole spent Tuesday in Walla Walla. Amiel Schubert was in Pendleton Tuesday on business. Mr. and Mrs. W. P. Littlejohn were in Walla Walla Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. Forrest Zerba were in Walla Walla Tuesday. I. B. Snook of LaOrande was in Athena Tuesday on business. Brooks Anderson is convalecing fast from his recent illness. Mr. and Mrs. Larabee of Adams were visitors in Athena Sunday, Mrs. Reta Potts and daughter Myrtle spent Tuesday in Walla Wal la. Roy DeFreece and Weldon Bell spent Frday night with friends in Milton. Mrs. Theresa Berlin and daughter Fay of Walla Walla were in Athena Tuesday. Armand Bell, Weldon Bell and Oral Michener spent Sunday in Wal la Walla. Reverend and Mrs. Bollinger were guests of Mr. and Mrs. E. B. Foster, last Sunday. Mrs. A. W. Douglas was confined to her home last week with a badly sprained back. Mr. and Mrs. A. W. Logsdon and Mrs. Laura Froome spent Sunday afternoon in Milton. Mrs. Velma Cox has returned to the M. I. Miller home after a week spent in Walla Walla. Marie Foster spent the week-end in Adams at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Paul Licuallcn. Mrs. Edwards of Forest Grove is again at the home of her daughter Mrs. R. A. Thompson. Will Campbell has commenced the season's gardening by setting several hundred cabbage plants. Jewel Pinkerton is carrying a splinted thumb. The member being broken while playing ball. Mrs. Henry Dell spent the week in Walla Walla visiting her daughter Mrs. DcMerritt and family. Carolyn and Kathryn Kidder of Pendleton spent this week visiting at the George Bannister home. Lincoln Swaggart of Portland was in Athena this week looking after his farm interests in this vicinity. Mrs. Augie Haviland of Milton spent the week-end at the home of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Sam Pam brun. Mrs. Bowles returned to her home at Walla Walla, Sunday evening, visiting her daughter, Mrs. F. S. Le Grow. Mrs. Coyle of Milton spent Satur day afternoon at the Luwrence Pink erton home visiting Mrs. Matilda Gray. Joe Payne left Sunday for Portland where he . will consult an army physician for relief from stomach trouble. Areta Kirk and Emma Ringel were in Wnlla Walla Sunday where they attended the opening of the Liberty Theatre. Mrs. Sims Dickenson and daugh ter Thyllis spent last Wednesday in Milton visiting Mr. and Mrs. Jack Cockburn. Gale Anderson came over from Wnlla Walla Sunday and spent the day with his parents Mr. and Mrs. .1. Anderson. Charles McFailaud has finished leveling the parkings and seeding the lawn at the W. S. Ferguson home on Fourth street. Lois Mclntyre, Lois and Blanche Johnson left Saturday for Eugene. The girls drove through in the John son Chevrolet. Mrs. A. B. McEwen returned to her home in Portland, Friday evening after a time spent with relatives in Helix and Athena. Melvin Coppock returned home Tuesday from the Walla Walla General hospital where he recently underwent an operation. Dorothy Burke is spendiing the week-end at the Emory Staggs home near Weston, attending a birthday party of Lucille Staggs. I. B. Philips has been a sufferer from an infection in his hand, caused by a splinter and it was necessary to operate to remove it. Mrs. A. W. Logsdon accompanied by Mrs. Zeltha Mclntyre, Mrs. Liila Kirk and Mrs. Minnie Willaby made a trip to Pendleton Monday. Mr. and Mrs. John Stanton and Mr. and Mrs. J. D. Huggins spent Sunday m Walla Walla, at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Alf Johnson. Charles Z. Randall a candidate on the republican ticket for District At torney was a caller in Athena Tues day in interest of his eampaign, Mrs. Nellie Taylor, Mrs. Leeper and Mr. and Mrs. Clore of Pendlton, were recent dinner guests at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Bert Logsdon. Mrs. Lela Vaughn, accompanied by her children were in Athena Thurs day of last week, visiting at the home of Mr. and Mrs. J. D. Huggins. The Easter choir met at the home of Mrs. 0. H. Reeder Tuesday eve ning preparing special music for Easter services at the Baptist church Easter Sunday morning. H. 0. Worthington was one of the painters from Pendleton who re painted, papered and decorated the First Baptist church of Athena, dur ing the past two weeks. Mrs. Grant Prestbye arrived in Ath ena from Great Falls, Montana Sun day evening. Mrs. Prestbye is spend ing the week with her daughter Mis. Elllis Brower in Pendleton. An error was made in last weeks Press in reporting illness of Mrs, Dean Dudley, who went to Walla Walla for medical treatment, in stead of an operation, as reported. Landscape gardeners have been working this week, at the M. L. Watts home. Very artistic and color ful grounds will soon surround the palatial home completed last spring. Mrs. S. E. Bone who has been a visitor of Mrs. Lilia Kirk has re turned to her home in Spokane, Wash. Mrs. Bone and Mrs. Kirk were dinner guests at the Chas. Kirk home Saturday. Mr. and Mrs. Everett Eager of Dayton, Washington, arrived in Ath ena en route home from Long Beach, California where they spent a very pleasant winter. While in Athena they visited their son C. M. Eager and family. The Etude club met Thursday afternoon at the country home of Mrs. Archie Mclntyre. Mrs. 0. 0. Stephens and Mrs. B. B. Richards had charge of the program and also served refreshments at the close of the afternoon. The W. C. T. U. held a very in teresting meeting Tuesday afternoon at the country home of Mrs. Lewis Stewart. Meeting at Athena hotel, transportation was provided for all who cared to attend. Chas. Z. Ran dall of Pendleton, a candidate for district attorney, was a visitor. Mr. and Mrs. Chester McCollough of Tekoa, Wash., spent the week-end at the home of Mrs. McCollough's parents, Mr. and Mrs. John Harden. They were returning from LaGrande, where they were called by the death of Mr. McCollough's grother. Mr. McCollough is employed by the O.-W. R. & N. company at Tekoa. On March 23 the members of the 0. D. 0. were pleasantly entertained at the home of Mrs. Ross Catron. Mrs. Bell Henry and Mrs. Hales were guests for the afternoon. The host ess was assisted in serving refresh ments by Mrs. Jesse Gordon. The next meeting will be held on April 6 at the home of Mrs. A. A. Mclntyre. Mr. and Mrs. R. A. Duffield were in Walla Walla, Tuesday Attorney Watts and H. A. Bar rett were in Pendleton, Wednesday. Hugh Murray of Freewater, was a business visitor in Athena, Tuesday. Mrs. Forrest Zerba and sons were dinner guests Friday of Mr. and Mrs. Roy Cannon. Rev. and Mrs. Hall of Helix were dinner guests Sunday at the H. M. Hale home. Mr,, and, Mrs. Wesley Parris and family of Helix, were guests at the Sterling Parris home Sunday. John Walker and daughter Jenny Mae were guests Monday of Mr. and Mrs. Clifford Walker on the ranch west of town. Services will be held in the newly painted and decorated Baptist church auditorium, Sunday. Mrs. Lilla Kirk took Mrs. H. W. LeRoy and children to visit Mr. Le Roy who is ill at the veterans hos pital, in Walla Walia. The new Bridge club met last Thursday afternoon at the home of Mrs. Revella Lieuallen, west ol town. Three tables of Bridge were at play Mrs.' Roy Duff of Adams was a euest of the club. , Mrs. Lawrence Pinkerton held high score for the day, Mrs. Sheldon Taylor consolation and Mrs. Duff receiving a guest prize. Salad and wafers was served by the hostess. The next meeting - will be with Mrs. E. C. Prestbye, Thursday, April 5th. Micrnonette Rebekah lodge met Tuesday evening" with a good attend ance. An invitation to the Helix lodge has been tendered for the next meeting, April 10th, when two candi dates will be initiated. Celia Harden and Verva Baker were elected dele gates to Grande lodge, to be held at Roseburg in May. It was decided thai? one would be held Friday, March 30, at Thorn Hollow if the weather would permit. An assembly was held at nine o'clock Tuesday morning and orders for the pictures of the various' classes and student body, etc., were placed with Mr. Meyer. At nine thirty a student body meeting was called and matters concerning this year's annual were discussed. The plans submitted by the annual staff were accepted by the student body and it was voted that each student should pay fifty cents for his annual this year. Alumni Blanche and Lois' Johnson, ac companied by Lois Mclntyre, motored back to school at Eugene Saturday.
