Contrary to all expecta tions, thj house of commons has re jected the revised prayerbook, despite the fact that Premier Baldwin recom mended its adoption. It had already been approved by the house of lords, by a vote of 241 to 88. The commons rejected the measure, 247 to 205. It therefore cannot now be presented for royal assent. Seldom has a decision of parliament thrown this great community into uch confusion. Rejection seems to have been a possibility which no one contemplated. Preparations had been completed for printing millions of cop ies of the new prayer book, and now all this work of printing and binding has suddenly ceased, throwing hun dreds of workers out of employment.
