Marion Jack, William Winship,
Charles Smith, George Thompson and
Millard Kelly have returned from a
goose hunt on the Columbia river.
They were gone 'steen days and num
ber of geese bagged 0. The boys are
reticent when questioned about ' the
success of the hunt, and we jdon't
blame them we've been there our
selves. Mrs. Womack, formerly a resident
of Athena but now living in Seattle, i3
the guest of her daughter, Mrs. Char
les Gay. She will remain in the city
for some time.
Robert Burns and J. H. O'Neil, 0
E. & N. Railway officials, were in
town Wednesday. They interviewed
a number of Athena merchants and
business men regarding the special
tiain service now in force.
Will Campbell is down from
Sprague, Washington, where he is en
gaged in farming. "Billy" is doing
well, and this year made a substanti
al "cleanup." He has invested in
Sprague city property that brings
him good rental.
The goose hunters returned from
the Columbia Tuesday. They report
rather poor success. A reporter is
informed by a disinterested party

The Misses Ruby and Gertie Burden
are down from Sprague on a visit to
their mother.
At the opera house tonight the pop
r ular Humphrey-Chapman Company,
will produce Hall Reid's greatest of
all melodramas, "The Knobs of Ten
nessee." The Humphrey-Chapman
Company appeared in this city sev
eral weeks ago in "Buried at Sta,"
and will be remembered as being the
c'everest company that has ever been
in Athena. The public is assured of
a very pleasant evening's entertain
ment. Music will be given by John
son's orchestra.
Herschell, the little son of Mr. and
Mr3. A. M. Gillis, has been ill the
past week with a fever, but is better
at present.
G. W. Bradley has returned from
a trip to his ranch in Klickitat coun
ty, Washington. Mr. Bradley was al
so in Portland several days.
Snow has not as yet fallen to any
extent on the mountains east of town.
Wood haulers are still actively en
gaged in bringing wood to town and
report mountain roads to be in first
class condition.
lf- Dan Mclntyre, who is up in the Al
barta .country, writes that he is hav
ing a good time, and is rehearsing a
company of amateur actors prepara
tory to putting on the popular play,
"My Friend From India." Dan Is an
actor of more than ordinary ability
and will give the people of the Alber
ta town a good show.

the 15th of each month. If bill is
not paid by the 25th, it will be pre
sumed that service is no longer de
sired and will be discontinued with
out further notice. In the past it has
cost us a lot of time and money to
have our collector call several times.
In the future he will make but one
call and if for any reason the bill is
not paid, patron may mail check to
this office. We ask the support and
co-operation of our patrons along
this line, po that we will be able to
render the best nossible service.
