FARMERS LINE UP
' The State Market Agent finds there
are thirty farm groups, comprising
the "Grain Belt Federation of Farm
Organizations." with one mill;on
farmers behind it, assessed five cents
each to provide a fund of $50,000,
are now organized to make a great
fio-ht in the December session of
congress to push the McNary-Haug
i n farm relief bill into legislation, to
ake care of the export surplus of
: taple farm products.
The agricultural colleges in the
thirteen states represented have been
asked to determine the cost of pro
ducing the staple products in the
states, plus five per cent profit, as a
basis for market levels. The Federa
tion will present the computations to
congress with the demand that ag
riculture be put on an even footim?
with other protected and prosperou
industries, the slogan being "I'rotej
iion for All or Protection for None."
A movement is under way for the
r.outh to join with the west in sun
ort of the export program and be
cause of the depression in cotton it
is expected it will succeed. The Mc-Nary-IIaugen
bill was defeated
the last session of congress.

Interesting comparisons are ad
vanced in a statement just issued by
che National Industrial Conference
J.oard, which cites tax rate3 in sev
eral of the principal cities of the
country with direct reference to
municipal ownership of utilities. The
fact that the people of Oregon have
only recently voted on a state wide
measure involving the broad principle
of government operation lends pai--ticular
interest to the figures issued
by this board. With a given index
number of 100 per cent as the av
erage of the United States with re
spect to living costs, it is stated of
ficially that five cities are the most
expensive in the country to live in at
present, and their ratings follow:
San Francisco, 112; Cleveland, 113.4;
Jacksonville, 115.6; Detroit, 118.1;
Seattle, 123.8.

The World's Greatest Washing -Machine
The only washing machine in the world thai cleanses
a 23 -gallon tuhful of clothes in 4 minutes
It is worth any woman's notice that the best
working washer that money can buy is also the
most attractive.
For the Meadows is the only washer that really
cleanses a 23-gallon tubful of clothes in 4 minutes.
And does the whole job without asking the
housewife to come to the rescue on neck-bands
and cuffs. The only washer that treats lingerie
and filmy things as they were meant to be treated.
Here are the reasons for these superb advantages
of washing with the Meadows: . v
The tub is 4 gallons bigger; it can be bigger be
cause this washer embodies the secret of faster
water action; the washing process is gentler,
though more thorough, because the Bakelite
agitator is forever smooth and does not wear
rough and sharp like the metal agitators in other
machines.
You owe it to yourself to do at least one washing
with the Meadows. Our service man can show
you how to run it in three
minutes' time.
You alone will decide that
this machine has kept a rich
promise. Phone us today
for a demonstration.
