WAR BOND HISTORY REPEATS.
History is repeating itself in gov
ernment war bonds. The tendency to
rise steadily as the occasion for their
issuance passes is already manifested
in the reports showing daily advances
in the ma'ket value of these securities.
This is cheering news to millions of
holders of Liberty bonds throughout
the country and the lesson should be
clear. '
Unless compelled by circumstances
to sell, a holder sacrifices hi" own best
interests by parting with hi3 bonds.
Now that government financing of the
war is ended, there is every reason to
expect that the five issues of war
bonds will advance steadily to par and
prooarjiy above. II those who can
will keep the bonds, Invest the interest
the government pays, they can be cer
tain of watching them rise in market
value.
From pariotic reasons, millions have
become investors in the war bondd of
their government. Now that they have
made themselves bond buyers, the
next step is to remain bond holders
The market reports are now showing
the wisdom of this decision on the
part of the majority of the people.

NOTICE OF SCHOOL MEET
ING AND BUDGET FOR YEAR
Although the movement looking to
the enactment of a provision under
which Congress will be convened in
regular session on March 5 of each
year has lost some of its force through
the passing of the present emergency
for an extraordinary session, it stli
has much to recommend it. Reasons
advanced for the change will no doubt
be the increasing volume and impor
tance of the business Congress is called
upon to transact; engrossing interna
tional insular problems; increasing ap
propriations and problems of taxation
and internal and industrial affahn of
growing importance.
The German government says it
needs 300,000 instead of 100,000 men
in-the army to preserve internal order
When we had no more population than
Germany we handled the job with an
army of 25,000, despite a larger ter
ritory and some hostile Indian. 4 '
