From the Press 01 Nov 30 1894 Turkey dinners were served at the St. Nichols Hotel and Mrs. Harden'B restaurant yesterday. A number of Athena's young people attended the ball at Weston Wednes day night, given under the auspices of Co. 'B," 0. N. G. The patrons of the Banka school, Mrs. Ida Gillis teacher, met at the Bchool house yesterday and enjoyed a sumptuous Thanksgiving dinner. A number of Milton citizens were in Athena Saturday last interviewing our people in regard to a division of the county. They undoubtedly found the sentiments of Athena people to be the same in regard to the hoary chestnut as heretofore, when the matter was brought up. A hunter came in from the moun tains beyond Camas Prairie yesterday with his wagon loaded with the carcass of one two-year-old elk and several deer. C. A. Barrett informs a Press rep resentative that he has received letters of encouragement from the gentleman who is negotiating the Bale of the wa ter bonds for the city. Mr. Barrett is sanguine that Athena will dispose of her bonds and that waterworks will be put in sooner than it was supposed after hard times came on. SCRIBBLER'S NOTES. The famous hunters. Jinks Taylor, whispering Joe, Blondie and the Cor poral, intend starting soon on their annual hunt to the John Day country. Last Monday night about 12 o'clock, Ed. Taft took six shots at a burglar who'was peeping in at the window, before he discovered that it was a chunk of dried mud on his eyelashes. Henry Keen is getting to be an ex pert with the razor, manipulating it like a veteran. He can already shave a customer quicker than a cat can catch a mouse and without disfiguring him very badly nothing more serious than the loss of an eye, or a peeled Adam apple. "Next." One day last week Bob Tharp had a terrible tussle with a w ild and wooly bicycle that he was trying to break. At fir:t Bob seemed to have the best of it, but the bicycle out-winded him and finally landed him up against a brick building. Fortunately, Robert struck on his cheek otherwise there would have been a first class funeral. Notiee To Creditors. In the County Court of the State of Oregon for Umatilla County.
