Thos. McCarty, well own in Athena met with a frightful accident while cranking a gasoline engine at a moun tain ranch east of town. His clothing caught in the machine, and before he could be extricated, one arm, one leg and three ribs were broken and he was badly cut and bruised, tight stitches were required to closo one wound on the head. Mr. McCarty sends wcrd to his friends that he will soon be out again. The wedding of Tom Caton and Miss Jennie Scott occurred Wednesday at Pendleton, the young people going from there to Walla Walla, for a short honeymoon. The bride is recently from LaGrande, being a graduate of the high school there. The groom, who is the only son of Mr. and Mrs. Harvey Caton, is an Athena product, having lived here all his life, and is a grad uate of the Athena school, having also attended Whitman college.
