Gillis dropped in on bis friends in Athena Saturday morning, and left Monday. He reports that fall work is at its height on his Wash ington farm, near Washtuokna, and tbat he is making a "hand" bimseir. Mrs. Gillis, who is almost restored to her former health, is living in Bitz- ville again this winter, where the boys are attending sohool. Mr. Burgess did not like Mr. Geer; he did not approve of him; yet that made no difference with what be felt to be his duty. Tbe farmer knowa that in Mr. Burgess he will find a man who can sympathize with his tronbles always and who will do more to help to alleviate them.
