ANOTHER ROAD PROJECTED
Report That Deal Has Been Closed
for Line to Nez Perce.
A dispatch from Kez Peroe says a
report is again prominent here that
Kez Perce is to get a railroad and ao
tivities in the way of real estate pur
chases and inquiries relative to tbe
same tbe past few days are accredited
to "inside" knowledge that plans
bave already been completed for sup
plying this seotion with transportation
tbrongh a branch line that will leave
tbe Cnldesao-Grongeville road at a
point near Ho.
Whether tbe real estate deals are
being made in connection with tbe
purchase for grounds for depot and
yard facilities or whether for specula
tion reports do not disclose. Well
known Nez Perce men are interested
iu tbe deals and are directing same.
Tbe development is believed to be the
outgrowth of a move made here two
months ago, when steps were taken to
organize a company to build tbe
branch line. It was stated at that time
that tbe Northern Pacific was baok of
tbe move. Now it is rumored at both
the Northern Paciflo and O. B. &. N.
are in the deal and that the branob
will be built in connection with tbe
goneral joint construction agreement
under wbiob tbe roads are working
in this field. This report is to tbe
effect that a branob will also be built
to tbe Craig mountain section.
Following tbe news that tbe Kerr
Uiflord company bad purchased the
Ketteuaoh grain company, repott is in
oironlation here that Balfour-Guthrie,
the big importing firm, is negotiating
for tbe purobase of the Vollmer-Clear-water
company's grain business in this
field.

"This colonization movemeut has

market. Our people are harder bit
than any other and something must
be done. I have learned tbrongh a
western friend ot an excellent spot near
Lewiston, Idaho, where good laud can
be secured at a reasonable price.
Although many of our band are skill

wages, they have taken up the idea of
getting back to tbe soil and are glad
to journey to tbe west. I cannot say
definitely tonight whether we cau
make arrangements for a thousand

likely that will be tbe looatiou of our

Mrs. Frank W. Dodson, a widow,
known throughout Iowa as tbe shrewd
est rolitioian in tbe entire state, is
muLingfor another term as county
recorder of Polk county upon her re
cord as a smasher of jary tampering.
She put to root a bold band of jury
fixers in Des Moiues and completely
revolutionized the drawing of jurors
'.throughout tbo state.
Where in former days the selection
of jurors was a matter of choice it is
now a matter of statute. And where
tbe jury boxes In Dps Moines were
closed and tied together with a piece
of wire tbey are now sealed. Mrs.
Dodson does tbe sealing. She takes no
chances.
Five years ago Mrs. Dodson was tbe
wife of Attorney Frank Dodson, a can
didate for district judge. To bis wife
Dodson confided bis hopes and ambi
tions. He also confided to bor the little
ius and outs of politics nntil his wife
had become thoroughly familiar with
tbe methods of ward heelers and pea
nut politicians.
Her husband died suddenly and sbe
was left with a little boy to support.
Mrs. Dodson turned ber attention to
politics and ran for county reoorder.
Tbe politicians fought ber tooch and
nail, but sbe went directly to the peo
ple and won out
Tbe Iowa statute at that time placed
the drawing of jurors in the bands of
tbe clerk, auditor and recorder, and
Mrs. Dodson discovered that tbe draw
ing of jurors was a farce. Sbe won
dered why politicians always sat on
juries aud sbe discovered that it was
due to the manner of drawing them.
Sbe set to work to correct tbe abuse.
She stirred up snob a fuss as tbe
state bad never seen, aud won out.

Gentlemen:
In 1897 I had a dltease of the stomach
and bowelj. Some physicians lold me it was
Dyspepsia, soma Consumption of the Lungs,
others said consumption of the Bowels. One
physician said I would not live until Spring,
and for four long years 1 existed on a little
boiled milk, soda biscuits, doctors' prescrip
tions and Dyspepsia remedies thai flooded
the market. I could not digest anything
1 ate. and in the Spring 1903 I picked up
one of your Almanacs as a poor emaciated
Dyspepsia wreck will grasp at anything, and
that Almanac happened to be my lire rarer.
I bought a fifty cent bottle of KODOL DYS
PEPSIA CURS and the benefit I receired
from that bottle ALL THB GOLD IN
GEORGIA COULD NOT BUY. I kept on
taking It and in two month I went back to
my work, as a machinist, and In three months
I was well and hearty. I still use a little oc
casionally as I find it a fine blood purifier
and a good tonic.
May you lire long and prosper.
Yours yery truly,
