If he does thore will be things doiug in the Sonatorial 'raoo. Senator Gearin, if he takes the stump will show the peo ple an orator of dignity, force aud eloquence A niarkod contrast to Jonathan Bourne. Bight here it might bo a good thing to remark that a man who can impress tbo Senate with his foice and bearing aud his eloquence, if necessary, is something this state neods iu Washington. Gov. Folk has just discovered that every man iu the Missouri peniten tiary is a poor man. Did he expect tho Missouri lawyers to lot anything get away from them? Tho Russian douma is in session but tho czar is boss. Ho won't bo reform ed. Nothing but deutb will cure him of his bossing unturo, but the terror ists can't reach him. Every time the Presidout regales the publio with an installment of his personal views, some of the republi cans think moro kiudly of Wm. J. Bryan. What tho railroad Senators are try ing to do, is to make the Interstate Commerce Commission as harmless as tho Civel Sorvioe Commission. Chancellor Day's attack on Presi de it Koosovelt wuh uncalled for aud unsuccessful, unspeakably aud uu blushiugly cheeky. Iowa has uot yot given up tho hope ot huviiig at least one ropublioau cuu didato for govornor from every con gressional district. Dr. Dosvio should nniii read I but chapter which tells how Teddy the Terrible led hiH troops up Sun .Tuuu Hill. Automatic Rcfriaerators Whether you iiro thiukiug ot buying or not, wo wuld like to tell you just how tur superior un AUTOMATIC is to all othur refrigerators. How ever, u few poiuts briefly told: . It is hjud.souio in uppetirauco as it is possible to buitd it. Same dosigus as lined in the very highest priood refrigerators. Trimmings are tho best that we can uiuko both as to design aud perfect fit, Gutting to the iusido, we believe tho AUTOMATIC is the most perfectly built and most perfectly inspected refrigerator ever offered for sale. It is hard to toll whether the outside or tho iusido reoeives the most attoutiou. Tho front feed iu tho Autouiatio was originated by the Illinois Refrige rator Compiiuy, tiud is uow being copied by other makes. Ice dofes not go iu thotopwithasumsh, but is PLACED through the front door." Every hoiisewifo will see the advantage of this at ouca - Tho peculiar patouted eonstruotion of the AUTOMATIC does not permit food odors mixing. Everything to Furnish the Home. 12 U-16-18 20-22 Alder Street. WALLA WALLA, -:- WASH IlAPPT DAYS FOR FARMERS. Spokesman-Review. From all over the Inland Empire come reports of heavy rains, worth millions of dollars to farmers, fruit growers aud truck gardeners. The spirits of the people which had be gun to drop with the long countinued diy spell, are now revived and there is every reason to believe that ex pectatious of abundant crops will be fully realized. The reputation of this vast western country as an agricult ural and horticultural district will be it is reasonable to anticipate, maiu taiued at a higher standard. It is interesting to those who have been iu the couutry for a good many years to reflect that tho present ex perience is not unusual. Many times iu the past a dry spell has followed seeding, and just as the situation ap peared to be growing serious, with tho ground dried with continual sunshine and the grass almost assuming a yel low lingo, the welcome rain has come, vegetation revived and the whole scene was changed. It is questioned by some whether a dry period of. con siderable duration, such as the coun try has just had, is uot really a bene fit, by sending growth into the roots instead of the stalk, making plant life stronger and preparing it for the rap id dovelopmeut that will follow the raiu. It docs not appear that any actual damage had been inflicted by drouth, though considerable anxiety was be ginning to make itself manifest. Howovor, "all's well that euds well," and as the dry season has ended aud been succeeded by copious showers, a happier feeling pervades the whole community. For Representative. James T. Lieuulleu, the democratic candidate for representative, presents tho following for the voters 's consid eration : If I am elected, I will, during my tenure of office, work and vote for: 1. luoreased appropriation for pub lio schools, uuti) our children have as good an opportunity for an educa tion as children in adjoining states. 2.
