HIT THE TRAIL HARD SEVEN DOLLARS WILL TAKE YOU CLEAN ACROSS Tbo Trail Offen Thirty-Five of the Finest Attraction! Ever Included In An Exhibition. Seven dollars will enable the visitor to the Lewis and Clark exposition to see every concession on the trail, the amusement thoroughfare of the cen tennial. At St Louis it cost in the neighborhood of $30 to see the "Pike" with its seventy shows many of them which were not worth the price of ad mission. The Trail offers 75 of the finest attractions ever included in an exposition. Fancy seeing 85 shows for 17. The most expensive concession on the Trail is the Carnival of Venice, a spectacular production designed by the "King of the Ballet," Bolossy Kiralfy. The price of admission to this attraction is 50 cents, and after seeing the show the fee will be .'. pro nounced reasonable. Five hundred persons participate on the stage. The scene is laid in Venice and by means of some very fine scenic offerings the illusion is faithfully carried out, even to the canals of that Italian city. The canals are of real water. The canal of Venice is a terpsichore an extra vaganza of the highest order. Leaving the Carnival of Venice the visitor meanders over to the Homer Davenport farm. Paying 25 cents he enters and beholds the foremost car toonist of the world comfortably seat ed on a rustic bench before a crudely built log house. Surrounding the il lustrious penman are hundreds of blooded fowls, several specimens of horses of Arabian blood and a magni ficent Hambletoniau. Davenport will be found affable, urbane and domestic, and if the visitor is of the light sort the cartoonist may offer him a modest sketch as a memento. Across the way from Davenport's is the Klondike mining exhibit This concession is pre-eminent from an educational stand point and offers the visitor a truthful portrayal of mining mothods in vogue in the gold fields of Alaska. The building that houses the show is designed inside in panorama effect and a full sized placer mine is found in operation. Cleanups of real gold worth f 10,000 are made every hour. The admission is 25 cents. Following the trail the visitor en ters the streets of Cairo, paying a fee of 15 cents. He is now in the midst of all that is Egytpian. Strangely garbed people are seen on all sides, now a diminutive donkey bolabored by a boy in flowing robe dashes past, or a monstrous camel loaded with hu man freight lumbers through the street Ferooious looking warriors dance about in mock combat The shrieking strains of curious oriental instruments are wafted from the thoatre on the Bof t Oregon ozone. For 25 couts the visitor gains entrance to this foreign show house and spends a pleasant half hour viewing the antics of a strange people. A wonderful show is located almost opposite the streets of Cairo, the in fuut incubators. Thore is no gaity obout this coucern. It reperseuts the most astonishing achievements of modern science, the nurturing of the human being by artiflcal means. In the pleasing flittle building housing this attraction are several ingeuiously constructed incubators containing real living infants. Visitors are allowed to gaze at them through plate glass, and apparently the tots are content to re mniu in their sung homes. The ad mission to the infant incubators is 25 cents. And so on down the trail the visitor may meander. A great many of the shows offer admissions as low as 10 cents. The visitor finds foolish shows and serious shows, or he may devote his time to instructive shows. No matter how hard he "hits the trail," he cannot spend more than f 7, whioh will admitt him to 85 attractions, un less he chooses to take in a show more , than ouce. Admiral Train of the United States navy encountered the Russian cruisers while cruising off the shore near Lin gay en gulf and accompanied them to Manila. All vessels are more or less damaged. Tbc cruisers have to leave within 24 hours or be interned until the close of the war. All these vessels were supposed to have gone to the bottom in the battle in Korean straits last Saturday and Sunday. Eye witnesses stated that the Bhips suddenly went down, but accord ing to the stories told by their com manders the ships made their escape by the aid of the fog, which screened their movements from the enemy. The Jemtchng was the worst crippled of the three vessels, which, with the ex ception of the two vessels that reached Vladivostok, are as far as known the sole survivors of Rojestvensky's bxg iquadron. The Aurora is a protected cruiser of 6,630 tons, and carried 632 men; the Oleg, a protected cruiser of 6,775 tons, carrying a crew of 872 men, and the Jemtchng, a protected cruiser of 3,200 tons, with a crew of 40 men. The ves sels were among the fleetest in the Russian navy, and it is to this fact that their escape is due. Instructions were cabled to Admiral Train as to what course to follow in reference to three Russian cruisers at Manila. If dam need and unseawortby the vessels will be allowed to makeTnecessary re pairs, otherwise they must leave in 24 hours. If the Russian admiral elects the vessels will be interned. h Train was aboard his flagship Ohio, and accompanied by the Wisconsin, Oregon, Raleigh and Cincinnati. The Aurora saluted with 18 guns.
