are scheduled to convene in Portland
during the Lewis and Clark exposition.
Electricity in its every conceivable
application, representing the most mar
velous achievements in modern science,
may be seen at the Lewis and Clark
exposition.
A native Filipino theatre, in which
amusements peculiar to the inhabit
ants of our island territory, will be pre
sented, is to be one of the many excel
lent attractions of the "Trail."
The government fisheries exhibit at
the Lewis an1 Clark exposition will
show the evolution of a Royal Chinook
salmon, from the embryo to a well
matured fish.
Borne idea of the privations endured
by Lewis and Clark in their expedition
to the great Northwest, may be gleaned
by a careful examination of the exhibits
characteristic of the earlier history of
Oregon territory.
The model dairy farm at the Lewis
and Clark exposition in which every
thing pertaining to scientific dairying
methods, the result of receot agricultur
al research, is to be shown, will prove of
particular interest to those interested in
dairying."
The caressing melody of the chimes in
the towers of the main government
building, will recall mental pictures of
the missions founded (by Junipero Ser
ra and his intrepid followers in the 17th
century.

opportunity to hear the world's famous
bands . Many of them have been en
gaged to play at the fair, among them
being Innes', De Caprio's, Ellery's and
the Hawaiian Imperial band.
A Creditable Production.
"Poor Mr. Rich," or as it is some
times known, "Papa's Boy," was credit
ably produced at the opera house Sat
urday night, before a small audience.
' Messrs. McCowell, Pylo and McClel
lan, professionals, were assisted in the
play by home talent, each part being
given by the local people in a very
clever and commendable manner. The
piece is a strong bill and will be present
ed tomorrow night at Adams, Thursday
night in Helix, arid Friday night in
Milton.
Mayor Williams Only Survivor.
The death of Georee S. Boutwell of
MniiHniliiifint.tH. leaves Mnvor Georee II.
Williams of Portland, the only survivor
of President Grant's cabinet. Boutwell
was secretary of the treasury under
Grant, while Williams was attorney
general, all the members of the Grant
cabinet now being dead excepting Will
iams. ' Williams was attorney general
from 1871 to 1875.

Colonel John M. Fuller, of Honey
