INJURIES ARE FATAL LOUIS HEIL VICTIM OF BAIL BO AD ACCIDENT ON 0. B. AN. Bun Into by Train Five Mile- From City Monday Night-Leaves Four Minor Children. Pendleton, May 18 Louis Neil died at the hospital Tuesday evening from in juries received by being run into by a freight train at 10 o'clock Monday night. The accident which resulted in Mr. Neil's death happened about five miles west of the city. Mr. Neil and one of his sons were walking down the O. R.. & N. track and just as they were about to reach the curve near a bluff they were met by a freight train. The son jumped to one side and escaped without receiv ing any injuries. Mr. Neil, however, , was less fortunate. He received a bad injury in the head, his right foot was cut off, and his right side was badly mangled. As soon as possible the young man ran home and informed his brother and sis ters of the accident. Neighbors wore apprised of the unfortunate affair and came quickly to the relief of the badly injured man, Mr. Neil was brought to the city and taken to St. Anthony's hos pital. Hp remained unconcious, with the exception at intervals, until he died. Mr. Neil had been a resident of Uma tilla county for twelve years. For some time he conducted a confectionery store in this city and subsequently purchased a farm west of the city where he had since resided. He was a 'widower, his wife having died about four years ago. She was a sister of Mrs. II. S. Scales of this city. He leaves four minor chil dren, two sons and two daughters. Bond Issue Comes. By an almost unanimous vote the tax payers of Pendleton Tuesday . for the second time authorized the school board to issue bonds in the sum of $60,000 for the purpose of erecting three new school houses in Pendleton. The proposition was submitted for the first time on April 12 and carried by a vote of 3 to 1, but was illegal owing to irregularities. Yes terday it was again submitted and the result of the balloting was 89 for the bond ssue and four against the iBsue. Richard Lambrechts Dead Richard F. Lambrechts, a former Athena resident, died last Sunday at Spokano at the Sacred Heart Hospital of Bright' diseaso, reports the Tribune from which he had been a sufferer for a year or more. Mr. Lambrechts was , 41 years of ago. He leaves a widow in Spokane and a son, Leo John Lam brechts, who is attending Pemsche col loge at Antwerp, Belgiun). The de ceased was a native of Belgium where his parents"Bre reported to be wealthy and influential people. World's Fair Train Wreck. Gillette, Wyo., May 17. The Bur lington through train for St Louis, bearing 100 world's fair excursionists from Washington, was badly wrecked at 6:30 o'clock p. m. George Carpenter of Cody, Wyo., was killed, and a little orpnun girt badly injured, iMgut cars were telescoped and the track .torn up a quarter of a mile. Mrs. J. M. McGee, Mrs. F. J. McCarty and A. H. Harris and wife of Walla Walla were passen gers. but were uninjured. The track was cleared early next morning. Odd Fellows of Oregon.
