Engblom, recently dis charged from the service, left for Cushman Saturday morning after a week's visit with friends in North Bend. Mr. Engblom resided in Ban don when called in the draft and was married to Miss Violet Eish a few days before leaving for camp. S. G. Whitsett who had been in Portland for the past few weeks re- turned Tuesday. Mr. Whitsett came in on the first trip of the train after tile change in schedule and he reports the change much more favorable to people going or coming from Port land. it means a saving of one day to people going into Curry county. Dr. G. H. Douglas and wife who » had been in Curry county to investi gate health conditions arrived in Bandon Tuesday morning and left Wednesday for Portland. Dr. and Mrs. Douglas were infatuated with Bandon beach and intend to return in the near future to spend a week jr so on the beach, G. R. McNair has been in Portland the past week a victim of the "flu.” He had gone to Eugene to visit his brother, Errol, who is ill in a hos pital, and later went to Portland on business. While there he contracted the disease and went to a hospital. Late reports state that he is getting along nicely and is considered not in danger. Local friends of E. C.
