social hall and extra fare rooms The
next deck contained staterooms, lob
by, writing room and bridal suites.
Below this was the saloon deck and
dining rooms.
The Congress had had on unevent
ful career on this coast. On June
16 last when the Bear was wrecked
n Blunt’s reef, the Congress was
swept out of her coinpass course and
approached Seal rocks near San Fran
cisco. The breakers were discovered
in time and the steamer was backed
out of danger.
