SOLD BY ALL DRUGGISTS It Beard < f Directors EVERYWHERE £¿"¿4 CHICHESTER SPILLS "A THRILLING U)VK" "Captain Courtesy" starring Dus- tan Farnum in the title role, is a stirring drama from the pen of Ed ward Child! Carpenter, tlie plot of which is laid in 184 4, when Califor nia was under Mexican rule. The play has been staged with the greatest accuracy to historical (le- tail, and the producers have been un tiring in their efforts to secure beau tiful, and at tlie same time realistic effects. Some remarkable pictures have been made of tlie California missions, parti, iilarlj oi (lie old Bu Fernando mission; and to complete the artistic setting of this story per mission was obtained to photograph some very fine interiors. This pho toplay is marvelously realistic as the Identical missions spoken of in the story were photographed whenever possible. "Captain Courtesy" required a veritalde army for its production. There wire Mexicans in full uniform of geneals and subalterns, vaeqeros, cow boys, civilian suldiers, Indians, painted and feathered, and pioneers of every variety, and beautiful thor oughbred horses with their glistening i trappings. The company leased a vast lanch for this picture, one of the most beautiful locations in the mountains. A great stage seventy- five by ninety was constructed as a reproduction of an early California r mission. All southern California was scoured to secure altar pieces, re I deros, painting, etc., to add to tile realism of the picture. This is a play of the red-blooded variety, and is supreme for scene and realism. Grand Theatre.
