A. Smith is building to Eeklcy. There is also a good wagon road at 156k loy leading to Myrtle Point. Ed. Gallier and Mr. Putton, of Pandon, spent several days in Port Orford since our last isse. These gentlemen both uLolieve in the future of this section, and if our people meet them half way in their efforts to ad vance the interests of northern Cur ry county it will probably result in the investment of capital that will mean much to tho county. P. J. Lindberg is in receipt of a letter of inquiry relative to one, Sam uel Curry, an old California, who a number of years ago worked the Granite Peak ledge tunnel near Sal mon mountain in this county. Any information of what became of Mr. Curry wiuld bo gratefully received by his son, J. A. Curry, of Myton, Utah. Salmon arc striking the troll both on Elk and Sixes river, and cvccll ent fishing with hook and line for salmon trout is reported on these streams. The steamer Mayfair was to have called here last week for a load of railroad tics, but the southelry wind that was blowing frightened her away She will stop ncio on lie rreturn trip. Mr. and Mr,s. John It. Mliler start ed for California Sunday. They drove their Ford auto to Pandon from whence they will ship the machine and take passage by steamer for San Francisco. They expect to spend sev eral months visiting slowly south along tho California coast, and will reach San Diego some time in the spring where they may locate. ,Mr. Miller still holds his property nt Port Orford and it is not unlikely that he and JIrs. Miller wil return to Cur ry at some future time. " During the past few days the shin gle mill has been cutting a special order of .shingles,, with which a new roof will be put on tho cold storage plant. This building which now be longs to Ii. L. Macleay, wa sorccted by It. D. Hume-at a cost of ?:15,000 for the prpose of developing the deep sea fishing industry at this place. Shortly after tho plant was complet ed Mr. Hume died, and as a conse quence it has never been used other than for a storage room. Rev. H. M. Myers and wife arrived in Port Orford last week from Port land, and will make their home here for the coming year at least. The late Methodist conference stationed Rev. Myers at this place to fill the vacancy caused by Rev. Paull's de parture. Mr. Myers is an earnest and entertaining speaker and ho and Mrs. Myers are sociable, hospi table people, and will be gladly wel comed in our midst. Armstrong Has Made Good County Commissione Geo. J. Arm strong, who is the republican candi date for re-election, has made an ex cellent record during his term of of fice and has been especially effective in getting things for tin's end of the county. Mr. Armstrong has done more substantial work than any com missioner in a number of years mid his record will bear inspection at all times. Voters should not forget this fact when they cast their ballot on November 3rd. A vote for Armstrong is a vote for progress. Paid Adv. Notice of Administration.
