operation for appendicitis at Emer
gency Hospital yesterday morning.
She came out of tho operation all
right and is getting along nicely.
JuflVrson Owenby, who lived near
tho Prosper cannery, died at his home
last Wednesday. Mr. Owenby was
51 years old and bad been ill with
consumption for somo time. He
leaves a wife and family. The fun
eral services were conducted by Rev.
J. Spencer Tilton on Friday, and in
terment wns at Prosper.
A non-partisan meeting at Marsh
field, called to endorse tho candidacy
of Fred Hollistcr for congress, broke
up in a row last week. The meeting
was called to bo held in tho Marsh
field Chamber of Commerce, but some
of the members of that body threat
ened to give up their membership if
the rooms were used for that purpose.
The meeting was finally held in the
street.
The Pythian Sisters will hold a
"Harvest Ball" at tho Dreamland pa
villion on Saturday, October 31.
John R. Miller and wife arrived in
fllandon Sunday from Port Orfonl, in
their Ford automobile, Mr. Miller
recently sold Ills Port Orford store
to P. II. Poole and John McKunzIo,
