Bartlott is the father of Stanley Bart
lett Who for years has been connect-1
ed with the Randolph Lumbor Co. and
also with the Robert Dollar Co. Mr.
Bartlett was accompanied by another
son, C. W. Bartlett, an .attorney of
Portland. Mr. Bartlett, Sr., is 8o
years old, but is very active, and has
been ongagod in tho practice of law
ud until last June, and would not side
track any business in his lino even yet

Firewood Consumption in Oregon.
Washington. D. C There are 520,-
500 cords of wood, valued at $1,978,
000, consumed on the farms of Ore
gon annually, acording to a report
which has just been isued by the
United States Department of Agri
culture. The total yearly .firewood
consumption in this state is 1,030,000
cords with a value of $4,334,000. 'lhe
consumption in tho cities of the state
is 475,000 cords and 40,440 cords are
used in the mineral operations of Or
egon each year.
In Continental United States the an
nual consumption of firewood
amounts to 85,937,000 cords, valued
$250,000,000. Of this amount
09,901,000 cords are used on tho farms
14.222.000 cords in tho cities of tho
nation and 1,751,000 cords nre used
in tho mines of the United States.
The average value of wood consumed
tho United States is $2.91 per
cord and $4.18 in this state. The
average consumption per farm in the
United States is 11 cords per annum
