However, they only trot us far as ColeErrove's when some It might be added here that timber gmall porti0n of the machine gave is not our only resource, but that we are one of the greatest dairying sec tions on the Pacific coast and some of tho finest farming land that lays out doors is right in this valley, so there is every reason to believe that as a business center Bandon is destined to bo one of the best cities on thc coast because of thc enormous resources back of us and the thrift and intelli gence of our people. BANDON AS A SUMMER RESORT Bandon, as a summer resort, is be ing herald far and wide and the fact that wo have thc most beautiful beach on the Pacific coast is pretty - generally known, the only thing we lack here is a means of transporta tion so that people can get in and out easily. This is somewhat overcome now by tho automobile as many peo ple come in every year in their cars, but even these are somewhat handi enpped on account of the roads. People who have automobiels here nrifl havo gone to outside points, say that the worst piece of road they struck on their whole trip was be tween Myrtle Point and Roseburg, and, by the way, it is stated that the worst part of that road is in Douglas county, the Coos county end, with one or two exception, not being bad It is therefore tin to tho people of Bandon and Coos county to demand that Douglas county eomo through with their end of the road building, or refuse to lend their influence to ward Douglas county traffic as has been done heretofore. Of course it is only a matter ot a few months until the Eugene-Coos Bay roailroad will be completed and work will begin on down the coast from the Bay, and then people can get here easily enough. But in the meantime and even afterwards we need the public highways and should have them. With tho proper means of transportation wihcli is sure to come, Dnmlon's future as the best summer resort on tho Oregon or Washington const is assured. away and they were forced to send to Crescent City to have the done. Every able bodied man in and around Agncss has been called upon to fight a bad forest fire that is rag ing on Lawson Creek. Rev. Hoyt and sons, John and Ar cher, returned Saturday evening from a trip afl far east as Conneticut. He reports having had a fine trip, al thuogh the weather was just a little warm for solid comfirt. Mrs. Geo. L. Mayer and three chil dren arrived here Friday evening and will remain here with her husband until the August term of Circuit Court. It will be remembered Mrs. E. C. Guerin at the home of Mr. Guerin's siter, Mrs. Warren De yoe, at Santa Rosa, California, where Mrs. Guerin is spending the summer, while Mr. Guerin is in Alaska in charge of a department of the sur renairslveying party who went into that country last spring to do the prelim inary work on the proposed govern ment railroad.
