Gerard Brandenburg arrived last
Saturday from San Francisco for a
visit with his brother, L. L. Bran-
lonburg. He is now down on the
Sixes River on a little camping ex
pedition. A fire alarm was turned in yester
day, the fire being at Brown & Gib-'
son's planing milh Fortunately it
was extinguished before any mater
ial damage was done, farther than
burning a hole in the roof.
Contractor F. F. Patterson leaves
for Bandon tomorrow morning where
ho will figure on the construction of
several buildings which it is proposed
to build there during the summer.

Carpenter & Son have moved
their racket store into the new
Thrift building, next door to the bak
ery. They have recently put in a
large amount of now goods, and now
have about double the room they
formerly had in the Oakcs building.
The Coos Bay Times says: "R. A.
Copple will leave the first of next
week on n six week's eastern buying
tour. He will go to New York and
stop at various cities enroute." Mr.
Copple is proprietor of tho Golden
Rule stores in Bandon nnd Marsh-
field.
Richard Stubbs and family and
Mrs. L. L. Lewis will leave here this
week for a two weeks' trip. They
will first go to Gardiner and Winches
ter Bay, whore they will spend a few
days. They will later proceed to Ban
don, Marshficld, Myrtle Point and
other coast cities. They will make
the trip in Mr. Stubbs automobile.

C. C. Innian, Jr., was up from
Sixes River mine yesterday looking
after business affairs.
A singular feature of tho new city
council is tho fact that Bandon's only
two ex-mayors are both members of
the council. Steve Gallicr the first
mayor is a councilman from the
West ward, and J. W. Mast, the re
tiring mayor is a councilman from
the East ward. The former exper
iences of these two gentlemen will
be a great help in tho work of the
new administration
Mrs. Nettie Waters of San Diego,
Calif., who has been in Chicago for
the past two months, stopped off in
Bandon on her return homo and vis
ited a day with her daughter, Mrs.
Ira Zeh.
Miss Nelson, n young girl about 1C
years old, attempted to end her life
yesterday by taking a dose of laud
iinum. Dr. Houston was called im
mediately and rendered aid and the
young girl is getting nlorig all right
now.
