At the Inst meeting of the School
master's Club, statistics wore given
based on the report of Miss Vreeland,
the state nurse, which chowed the nec
cesity for special work for certain
pupils. As sixty-four grade pupils
in the High school building are be
low grade, owing to tho need- for a
different typo of instruction, it was
considered desirable to havo a spec
ial teacher fr them.
Summing Up the Revival.
There were about sixty who made
made confession in tho union revival
which closed Sunday night. Tho ox
act results cannot bo tabulated, but
this givc3 a general idea of tho inter
est in the meeting and its influence
on tho town. The evangelist preach
ed a full salvation and ho cannot be
blamed that some seed fell upon stony
ground somo by the wayside and
among thorns. The nfternoon meet
ings were a great means of grace,
and all who attended were greatly
blessed. The meetings wore a tonic
to the Christian people, and both the
ministers and laymen will be more
zealous because of them.
Tho evangolist has been criticised
particularly among those who did not
attend the meetings. His roughness
and indiscression were greatly ex
agerated. We do not say that all his
words wore well chosen, but wo do
warn our townsmen against Billy
Sunday if Thomns was too much for
them. He succeeded in making peo
ple talk about religion who had given
it no thought for years, and ho cares
more about that Chan ho does for his
reputation.
As for the ministers, they aro anx
ious to see the town nroused, relig
iously and morally, and, the matter
of personal regard must bo second
ary. The fact is that Bandon needs
a clean-up. Wo aro not muck-raking,
but wo do want to seo better condi
tions for our boys and girls, nnd any
personal sacrifice to this end will be
gladly made.
Each church will have its own ser
vice next Sunday. KNIGHT.
