Mr. Miller is ad vocating taking the office he seekf away from political domination ant making it strictly independent. He was a member of the State Lugisla ture in 1911, and in that capacity was an active worker for all progress. ive measures. He carries the solid endorsement of his home community and the reputation f being an agress ive fighter and a good business man With the primary election onlj two weeks offt is well for the vot ers to begin sifting the various can didates. There are good men run ning for the nomination, likewise others not so good, and it is up t( the voter to see that the unfits art weeded out. If each party will do its duty at the primaries it doesn't matter greatly which party wins at the final election good men will be in office. At every election there arc those with little or no qualification!. for the office they aspiro to; who try to ride into office on a popular slogan and by extravagant promises which they cannot keep. It is a prettj good plan to judge public men bj past records in office their future labors are not apt to be far differ ent. The road bonding question is, wc think, one of the most important questions that will come before the voters on May 15th. It will be n big step forward in the development of Coos county if these bonds carry. Good roads are an asset to the farm er, manufacturer and business man alike.. By facilitating traffic thev will bring the towns of the county into closer relations, and the farm ers closer to the towns. They will open up districts to all-ycar-around trade which are now practically iso lated in winter time. They will in crease the value of faipn property and at the same time make it appear more inviMng to prospective set tlers If you want to hasten the de velopment of Coos county vote for tho road bonds. WEATHER REPORT Captain O. Wiren, Cooperative Ob server reports the rainfall for tho month of April as G.07 inches, days rainy and clowdy 13, days clear 14. The rainfall for the corresponding month of last year was 0.24 inches, making a difference of 1.17 inches les this year. For County Clerk. As a Republican, I hereby place myself as a candidate for the nomin ation at the primaries to be held May loth, for the office of County Clerk. If I am nominated and elected I will during my term of office perform all uie requirements and duties prompt ly, expeditiously, without prejudice and as economically as ig consistent with good service. Believing that I can save money for the tax naver. and make some for myself, "I want your vote." F. E. ALLEN. Marshfiold, March 17, 1914. FOR CONGRESS W. C. HAWLEY Candidate for Rc-Nomlnation. Members of the Rivers nnd Har bors Committee have said that he knows about the waterways in his District and presents their merits more effectively than any other who appears before them. . FOUR PER CENT of tho WHOLE amout npropriated in the present Rivers and Harbors bill is for this District. Ho has already secured over $4,000,000 for the waterways, build ings and other public purposes and will add to "that at this session over $2,000,000 more, which is an overage of over $870,000 per year. HE IS JUST AS DILIGENT, PER SISTENT AND SUCCESSFUL IN ALL OTHER MATTERS PROMOT ING THE WELFARE OF THE PEO PLE AND THE COUNTRY.
