minute ho let go of his pocket nut
scrambled as mad a pullet as you ever
saw, and when she'd flopped on to the
ground sho scurried away, screeching,
'Cut! cut! cnh-dah-cutl' at the top or
her lungs. Well, the captain couldn't
help hearing that and naturnlly ho
looked back to see what the row was,
and when he saw what had happened
ho sung out at the top of his volr
" 'Corporal Davis, take three Pn

"That mnde everybody feel middling
cheerful, but those who knew where
tho chicken had come from got a real
good l'augh when Piper put his hand
