H I'. RECORDER has f>e»‘n an advocate of good it, ids ever since the
present management assumed control ot it, but just at present we
led inclined to add a little Zeal to <> r good roads campLgn an I
urge the people of the road district to get ready for a vigorous •« ken-
ing along this line.
»
The county court sets early in January, the exact date we believe is
January 3d. At this session the new board will organize, and the newly
elected commissioner, Geo. J. Armstrong will take the place of E. A.
Anderson who retires. Mr. Armstrong is a Bandon man and will no
doubt see to it that we get our share of the money at this end of the
county, but a good delegation of citizens, at the opening of the session to
show the court that we (Jemand our dues, would probably help Mr. Arm
strong considerably in his campaign for road funds, and no doubt would
appreciate very much to know that the people of this end of the
county were standing back of him. We need money for roads in this end
of the county.
We have been paying taxes to build roads in Coos
County and have not had our share in return. We need better pubb’c
highways leading into Bandon. The Dairyville road, mentioned
Friday’s R ecorder is only one of the many that ought to
proved. We want all of them fixed so that they will be good
year-round wagon roads.
WE WANT GOOD ROADS! WE MUST HAVE GOOD
■ROADS !
This paper stands for good roads and will continue to fight for them
until we get them. Good roads will help more to build up the country
than any other thing.
A gentleman said to the R ecorder the other day, “If you will
travel over the roads to my place every day for a week, you would not
say anything about port commission for awhile.’’
Yes, we would.
We want good roads to get the farm produce to
town, and we want a port commission to get the goods out to market by
easier means of transportation. We can have both good roads and a port
commission, and not pay any more tax in the end than we are paying
now. We want both, we need both—this'paper is in favor of both and
will advocate both, for both are essential to the general welfare of Bandon.
