Their idea of association was for their own mutual benefit. Little did they realize how far reaching was the influence of Kiwanis to become in building individuals, communities and nations. In the beginning the club operated as a local organization only, with no idea of service to others. But when Kiwanis spread to other com munities it grew rapidly until today there are over 2000 clubs with a membership numbering in the thousands, scattered throughout the United States and Canada. This magnificient growth is due to the unself ish purpose, ‘ W e Build.” Kiwanis builds in the underprivileged-child work; boys and girls work; citizenship; rural relations; vocational guidance; public affairs. So it is proper that the week of January 21 has been designated as anniversary week to celebrate a quarter century of community service. Kiwanis, we salute you. Neighbors Last Monday night Beaverton Kiwanis club was the guest of the Tigard Lions club at a din ner and program at Roamers Rest. A fine, friendly spirit was manifest by those present. This is as it should be. Tigard and Beaverton are two of the finest and fastest growing communities ad jacent to Portland, and have much in common. Let’s have more of these friendly get-to-gether affairs. Kiwanis, you are next. W fc * * ' kt Catholic, Protestant Jew, Say Yes! , P ITTSPl’ RU. PA.—T h ltiy out : standing Catholic.
