In the Beaverton Exchange Area:
The West Coast Telephone Company is now
working out plans to modernize the Beaverton tele
phone system. The proposed installations will make
the Beaverton-Aloha telephone service second to
none. These plans include:
—CONSTRUCTION OF A NEW BUILDING
—INSTALLATION OF A NEW MODERN
SWITCHBOARD, LAMP SIGNALLING
Common Battery.
—REPLACEM ENT O F PRESEN T TELE-
Phones with instruments of the latest type.
—SELEC TIV E HARMONIC RINGING. Sub
scribers on party lines do not hear the rings for
other parties on line.
—RECONDITIONING All Lines and Outside
Plant.
—ELIM INATION of Overcrowded Rural Lines.
These changes, involving the expenditure of
thousands of dollars, will be followed by small increas
es in monthly rentals in many cases.
During the next two weeks, representatives of
the company will call on every Beaverton Ex
change subscriber and will explain fully the pro
posed changes, rates, etc.
No changes from the present system will be
made until the majority of those affected have
signified their approval.
