His brothers, H ow ard, G eorge and Louis w ere all notified and w ith the exception o f G eorge had arrived before the coroner ap p eared . The verdict w as suicide alm oat im ­ m ediately as the clothing had a p ­ p a re n tly been pulled to one side fo r th ere w as no hole, eith er in th e jack e t or s h irt H ouston w as w earing. The coroner found th a t the b u llet entered th e b re a s t ju s t below the le ft nipple and p assed en tirely th ro u g h th e body. The body w as tu rn ed over to W. E. Pegg to be prep ared fo r b u rial. L ater search of the p rem ises d is­ closed th a t the deceased bad d raw n a check fo r p ractically all th e money he had in th e bank in fa ­ vor of his w ife an d also had m ade arran g em en ts fo r m eeting the ex ­ penses o f the fu n eral. As a young man he helped lus p aren ts about the place. L a te r he learned the c a rp e n te r trad e and w orked a t it under d iffe re n t local co n tracto rs. F or a tim e he w orked w ith his b rother, H ow ard, a t the S outhern Pacific car shops then located in the so u th east p a rt of town. A bout 1917 he w orked fo r O tto Erickson and from th a t place he w ent to Cam p Lewis w here he w as detailed to c a rp e n te r w ork. He put in about eig h t m onths m cam p. Coming back to B eaverton w hen m ustered out, he w ent to w ork a- gain fo r E rickson and stay ed th ere u n til about 1924 when he w ent in­ to business fo r him self in a build­ ing located a t the co rn er of C edar S t. and th e highw ay. T his building w as torn down to m ake room fo r the new highw ay. A fte r going into business fo r him self he purchased the H endricks place and a t about th e sam e tim e m arried Grace Fluke, a widow w ith fo u r children. He im proved his home built a new g a ra g e on it when the new C anyon road w as built and moved his business to the new location. He w as a kind and devoted f a ­ th e r to his adopted fam ily and his m any friends sincerely re g re t his passing. F u n eral services w ere held W ednesday from Pegg'* C ha­ pel.
