M uxhroom Sauce
lb. mushrooms, sliced
2 thsps. butter
2 tbsps. browned flour

Cook sliced mushroom* in butter
until tender.
Brown flour in hot

stock or wster and continue stirring
until sauce thickens.

1/3 cup powdered sugar
2 egg yolks

2 egg whites
2 tbsps. powdered sugar

4 tsp granulated sugar

2 cups flour
4 taps, baking powder
Vi tsp salt
2 tlwps. sugar
2/3 cup milk
2 4 tlisps. shortening
1/3 pkg pasteurize! dates
4 marshmallows

Pit dates,
and stuff them with
quartered marshmallows Then sift
fiour, baking powder, salt and su­
gar, Work in the shortening. Stir­
ring with a knife, add milk to form
n soft dough.
Toss
dough on a
lightly floured hoard and roll out
to a thickness f one-half inch. Cut
ill rounds. Plate s stuffed date near
one edge of each round o f dough
and pressthe edges
o f the round
together to enclose the date. Brush
the semi-circular scones with slight­
ly beaten egg yolk which has been
diluted with a little milk. Sprinkle
with chopped nut*. Bake in a hot
o\en (450* F .) for 10 to 12 min­
utes 15 scones.

ling. Mix sugar, flour, and salt in a
small saucepan; stir in boiling wa­
ter and dates Continue stirring un­
til mixture thickens. Remove from
stove; add
