The Hatter of a City Damp Ground
and Other Things of Impor
tance Were Brought Up
The City Council o f the Town
of Beaverton met in
regular
session Monday evening and for
• tune it looked as though there
would be but
little
business
transacted excepting the passing
on the regular bill« lhat come up
every month for approval. How
ever, after the bills were passed
and the water ordinance form al
ly disposed of. several matters
were brought up that are of
more or less interest to every
one.
It was suggested by Mr. E.
" . \\ oodruff that ns there was
a balance o f several thousand
dollars that had been In the
Bank for some months that the
city was entitled to interest on
the monthly balance. It was de
cided that Mr. oW odruff act as
a committee o f one to interview
the bank officials and see wnat
could be done about the matter.
The City Attorney brought up
the matter o f securing a dump
ing grounds as the one the City
Council had been dickering for
for some time did not see... any
nearer being purchased than It
had some months ago. The Coun
cil then decided to meet in a
body Tuesday night and go to
look over a site that had been
suggested by Mr. Rossi.
The
site lays much nearer town than
the one offered by Mr. W o lf and
is said to be an ideal dumping
grounds.
A gentlemen representing a
delegation present at the meet
ing, who live on the east side
o f Lombard Street than took up
the matter of opening a street
down past his property to the
car shops. It would seem that
one party has a piece o f ground
lhat the others want for a street
and this delegation wished to
secure the consent o f the Coun
cil to bring condemnation pro
ceedings against
this certain
piece o f property to be used as
a road.
Mr. Grandgeorge petitioned
the Council to allow him the use
of the city water as soon ae
Bull Run Water is turned on.
There seems to be a consider
able number who are asking for
Ihe water and the Council are
favorably considering the matter
of supplying them.
There was also some discus
sion about the need o f a map o f
the city on which the water and
gas mains were shown and so
the location of the lights and
hydrants and other things be
longing to the public could be
located. It is too bad that there
is no plat o f the city and step»
should be taken to have
one
made so that a print can be
lakcn off. So far as the editor
knows there is no authentic map
o f Beaverton as it now is that
can be secured. In fact, there
is no plat of the subdivision
wherein he lives that is available
at this time. Some action should
he taken in Ihe matter and It
would be well for Ihe Chamber
of Commerce or Hie City Council
to take hold and push this m ai
ler through.
