Mrs. Blanche Isom Mercer, form-
j erly of this community, died at the
Pacific Christian hospital in Eugene
Friday morning at 5 o'clock. Mrs
Meiccr underwent a surg.eal opera
tion seven weeks ago and died as a
result of that and other complications
The funeral was held Sunday after­
noon at the Branstatter chapel in
Eu c.ne, with Clifford Carey, pastor
r the local Christian church, offi­
ciating, and interment in the Alford
cemetery.
Mrs. Mercer's was the third death
In this family in three years, her
fa'.her, David J. Isom, having passed
away March 29, 1924, and her moth­
er, Sophia E. Isom, August 10, 1925.
Mrs. Mercer was born near Halsey
October 19, 18S7, and is survived by
her husband, Charles Mercer, and
cr.e sister, 'Mrs. Rova Robnett, of
Eugene, and two brothers, J. F. Isom
of Oakridge and E. D. Isom of Halsey

A Meeting Full of Interest
The Parent-Teachers association
met Friday evening. A committee
appointed at the last meeting to de­
cide upon an entertainment to raise
money for the association reported
that a play had been selected, which
will be put on at the city hall.
The young people of Spoon River
community offered the proceeds of
a play, which they plan to put on at
Halsey in the near future, to the
parent-teachers’ association. The of­
fer was accepted and a committee
was appointed to take care of the
advertising for that play.
A committee was named by the
executive committee to select the
nominees for officers of the associa­
tion for the coming year.
